Dr. Niels Brouwer (1950) is a leading teacher educator and researcher whose work focusses on the effectiveness of teacher education and professional development. Connecting practice and theory is central to his work, which received international awards and reaches audiences worldwide. Niels is a translator, teacher and educational psychologist by training. He has worked as a teacher of English, Dutch and social studies in secondary schools and in adult education. Since his doctorate in 1989, he has been active as a teacher educator and researcher. Since 2015, he works on a freelance basis.
